Michael Bisping Doesn’t Have Khamzat Chimaev In His UFC Top 10 Middleweights Ever

Over the last few years, Khamzat Chimaev has become one of the biggest names in the world of MMA. The Russian fighter initially fought in the welterweight division and defeated big names such as Gilbert Burns, Kevin Holland, etc.

Following that, the fighter faced troubles regarding weight cutting and decided to move up to the middleweight division. Chimaev continued his dominance and beat Dricus du Plessis to win the middleweight belt in dominant fashion.

However, the fighter lost the belt against Sean Strickland in a much-anticipated title fight earlier this year at UFC 328. Chimaev has built a massive fan following; however, according to Michael Bisping, he still has more to prove.

“I don’t know…How many fights has he had at middleweight? Cause he campaigned mainly at welterweight? He fought Usman at 185… beat Dricus at 185… but there wasn’t too many fights at 185. I’m not being dismissive… he just needs more,” said Michael Bisping via Jaxxon Podcast.

Michael Bisping is a middleweight legend who fought in the UFC from 2006 to 2017 and had some memorable fights. In 2016, Bisping won the belt by beating Luke Rockhold via a first-round KO and became the first UK champion.

After that, he defended it once against Dan Henderson but lost against Georges St-Pierre the next year. Following that, he retired from fighting; Bisping continued to appear in the UFC as an analyst.

Colby Covington calls Khamzat Chimaev a quitter

Colby Covington hasn’t fought in the UFC since his last loss to Joaquin Buckley in December 2024. However, the fighter has been active in the wrestling scene, competing in the RAF against popular fighters.

As a result, Colby Covington has stayed in the limelight and has certainly used it to beef with other fighters such as Khamzat Chimaev. “I take on all comers. I want the biggest and best matchups I can get, so it was a no-brainer… I know I can break this guy.

“You’ll never see me pulling guard in a fight like he was with Strickland… He just doesn’t have that cardio. He’s a quitter. Six minutes, he can’t hang with me on that freestyle wrestling mat,” said Colby Covington via The Ariel Helwani Show.
