Alex Reid Taken To Hospital After Suspected Brain Bleed

The former MMA fighter and Hollyoaks actor, Alex Reid, was rushed to hospital with a bleed on the brain.

The 50-year-old, who was previously married to Katie Price, revealed on social media that he was taken in for urgent checks amid fears he had a suspected bleed on the brain. Concerned about his unsteady gait and alarming changes in how he was moving, doctors quickly arranged scans to investigate what was going on.

Tests, Fears and Family History

Alex explained that he underwent a CT scan and is waiting for MRI results to confirm whether there is any bleeding or damage affecting the back part of his brain. His fear is intensified by the fact that his father died at 77 from a brain tumour, which makes any sign of neurological trouble feel especially serious.

Even so, he has taken some comfort from early feedback that, so far, no tumours have been detected on his scans.

Long-Term Impact of Fighting

Looking back on a career that includes around 300 fights, Alex worries that years of blows in martial arts and cage fighting may have contributed to his current problems.

He admitted that his recent “punch drunk” appearance has led some people to assume he is drunk when he is actually battling severe balance and walking issues. Turning his experience into a warning, he urged younger fighters to train smarter, use proper head protection and think about the long-term consequences rather than just the next bout.

In one of the fights that redefined his career, Reid took a fight against BAMMA middleweight champion Tom Watson in 2010. For those who don’t know, Reid hadn’t won a fight since 2005 and was coming off a three-year layoff.

It was predicted that the fight would be over quickly with few giving Reid even the slimmest of chances against Watson. However, Reid stayed in there for five gruelling rounds and produced one of the greatest fights in British MMA history. While he lost the fight via unanimous decision, but he came out feeling like a winner and it gave him a new reputation.

It is worth noting that Alex Reid, known as the ‘Reidonator’ was sponsored by Sidekick Boxing in his channel 5 BAMMA and Bellator fights. Speaking about the situation, Daniel Knight said “Alex Reid has been one of our best sponsors to date. Not just because of his fame, but because he went above and beyond to get our brand scene.”

Message to Fans and Ongoing Drama

From his hospital bed, Alex said he wants to be open about what happens “behind closed doors” in combat sports and raise awareness of the risks to brain health.

He thanked fans for their messages and promised to keep everyone updated once his MRI results are confirmed. The health scare comes against a backdrop of renewed tension and headlines involving ex-wife Katie Price, adding extra emotional strain at an already frightening time.
