Antonio Cesar Gives Himself “Nine Out Of 10” After Stopping Joshua Perreira

Antonio “The Flash” Cesar had just handed an unbeaten fighter his first professional loss, yet he still saw plenty of room to grow. The 22-year-old Brazilian graded his own night at nine out of 10.

Cesar stopped Joshua “Flyin Hawaiian” Perreira via first-round TKO in flyweight MMA at ONE Fight Night 48 on Friday, October 2, live in U.S. primetime from Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium. The win moved him to 2-0 in ONE and stretched his professional winning streak to 10.

After an early exchange of kicks, Cesar absorbed a crisp elbow, answered with a heavy overhand right, and scored a takedown just past the two-minute mark. He later caught a kick, returned Perreira to the canvas, and closed the round with ground-and-pound and a grounded knee.

Perreira struggled to his corner at the bell, and the contest was waved off after a medical evaluation. Cesar’s first thoughts afterward were about gratitude.

“So I’m very happy. First of all, I’d like to thank God for everything and also ONE for having us here, for the opportunity to be here. And this is another good fight, and I would love to make history here with ONE,” Cesar said.

That history could arrive sooner than many expect. Cesar wants one more fight, ideally against former ONE Flyweight MMA World Champion Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu, before calling for a shot at reigning ONE Flyweight MMA World Champion Avazbek “Ninzya” Kholmirzaev.

He called this a better performance than his debut win, but he refused to call it complete. At his age, he believes the best version of himself is still to come.

“This one is better than the previous one, so I would give myself nine out of 10. But I know that there’s still room for improvement, and I’m just a guy who is [22] years old. There’s still more things coming, more room for improvement. So that’s nine out of 10. The one thing I’m still missing, I would just improve myself and show what I can do in the future,” he said.
