Arman Tsarukyan Reveals His Plans Following Potential Lightweight Title Fight Later This Year
The UFC lightweight division has seen a massive change in the last six months, with Arman Tsarukyan being a top title contender. Earlier this year, Justin Gaethje shocked the world by beating Ilia Topuria to win the lightweight title at the Freedom 250 event.
Following that fight, Gaethje has no interest in fighting Topuria in a rematch and is looking for young new contenders. Arman Tsarukyan and Paddy Pimblett are some of the biggest names who are ready to fight Gaethje at the ned of 2026.
In the last year, Tsarukyan has gone on a long, impressive media run and has made millions of new fans. The fighter has made his plans clear and will not stop after winning the title until he avenges his previous defeat.
“If I get the belt at the end of this year, maybe the beginning of next year we can fight. If I get the belt at the end of this year, maybe the beginning of next year we(Arman vs. Islam Makhache) can fight. Maybe he’ll come down if he beats JDM, maybe he will stay there. I don’t know, so we’ll see. I just need to get back, then I gotta think about Islam,” said Arman Tsarukyan via Red Corner MMA.
Arman Tsarukyan has frequently found himself on the wrong side of UFC and Dana White as fans accused the promotion of overlooking the fighter. White has repeatedly asked the Armenian to prove himself again after his last-minute pullout at UFC 311.

Despite being ignored by the top brass, Tsarukyan has been consistent with his performances, beating the likes of Dan Hooker and Mauricio Ruffy in consecutive matches. Even the champion Justin Gaethje has given his green light to fight Tsarukyan in his next.
“Arman just had a huge fight and a huge finish, so obviously he’s at the forefront of everybody’s mind, and he’s clearly the next contender. If I were able to fight this year, then we’d be fighting at the end of this year,” said Justin Gaethje via One Night with Steiny.
Gaethje is currently in his last stint as a professional fighter and wants to be a part of as many big fights as possible. It will be interesting to see whether Tsarukyan finally gets his long-awaited opportunity against the champion.
