Conor Benn Fires Warning at Ryan Garcia Over Potential Title Fight

Conor Benn wants to fight Ryan Garcia

Ryan Garcia recently made headlines after capturing the welterweight championship by defeating Mario Barrios in dominant fashion. From the opening bell, Garcia controlled distance beautifully, snapping sharp combinations, countering effectively, and repeatedly staggering Barrios with precise timing.

Barrios attempted to pressure forward, but Garcia’s superior speed, footwork, and defensive awareness consistently neutralized every offensive effort throughout. After twelve competitive rounds, judges awarded Garcia a clear unanimous decision victory, marking an impressive comeback following his previous loss to Rolando Romero.

Shortly after the bout, Conor Benn took to social media, publicly staking his claim and boldly challenging Garcia for a potential Welterweight title showdown. “Congratulations champ – See you later this year. Make sure you keep my belt warm,” wrote Conor Benn via X.

Conor Benn recently shocked boxing fans by leaving Matchroom Boxing to join Zuffa Boxing under Dana White‘s leadership. After years alongside Eddie Hearn, Benn secured a staggering $15 million purse for his promotional debut bout with Zuffa Boxing.

Hearn publicly expressed devastation over the fallout, insisting he supported Benn relentlessly through controversies and career-threatening adversity. The promoter revealed Benn never personally called him before finalizing the deal, deepening emotional wounds surrounding their fractured partnership.

Several boxing analysts labeled the switch one of the most shocking betrayals witnessed within modern boxing history. Despite controversy surrounding the move, supporters remain intensely excited about Benn’s first appearance under the new promotional banner.

Ryan Garcia talks about his next plans after becoming the new WBC welterweight champion

In 2024, Ryan Garcia found himself surrounded by controversy after testing positive for banned performance-enhancing substances. Outside the ring, Garcia also sparked backlash for inflammatory public comments that further damaged his professional reputation.

The suspension that followed halted his momentum, and his eventual comeback bout ended in defeat. Critics questioned whether Garcia could ever rebuild credibility and regain championship-level form again.

However, by defeating Mario Barrios, Garcia silenced doubters and reignited belief among supporters worldwide. Now brimming with renewed confidence, he eagerly targets elite rivals like Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney next.

Devin, he don’t want that. He is terrified!! He has PTSD. I just want to beat Devin Haney’s ass so bad,” said Ryan Garcia via post-fight presser.

Ryan Garcia has also openly discussed fighting Conor Benn, citing massive pay-per-view potential for that blockbuster showdown. Recently, Oscar De La Hoya dismissed rumors suggesting Garcia plans to leave Golden Boy Promotions anytime soon. Still, considering boxing’s unpredictable landscape, a promotional shift for Garcia would hardly shock insiders observing the sport.
