Ilia Topuria is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in the current UFC roster and holds the lightweight championship. The fighter is currently scheduled to main event the UFC Freedom 250 event against Justin Gaethje.
Ahead of the fight, the hype is massive, and Ilia Topuria is the fan favourite to win the much-anticipated contest. Recently, the fighter talked in detail about the event but also opened up about his childhood struggles.
“We were bullied at the school. There was constant confrontation with the kids at the school, and you have to stand up for yourself a lot of the time. I was always a kid who didn’t like confrontation in the street, but sometimes you have to face those kind of situations, and I felt afraid. It awakens a sadness; you start to feel less, you don’t have that courage until you speak up,” said Ilia Topuria via Charlas Adictivas.

Ilia Topuria was born in Halle, Germany, to Georgian refugee parents, spending his earliest years away from his cultural roots before relocating at a young age. At the age of seven, his family moved back to Georgia, where he faced a tough environment.
Growing up in Georgia, Topuria found discipline through wrestling, using hardship and adversity as fuel to build a mindset slowly. Now that has helped the fighter to become an undefeated champion in the UFC.

Ilia Topuria gets called out by top lightweight Arman Tsarukyan
Arman Tsarukyan has successfully established himself as the next big thing in the UFC lightweight division. Despite being sidelined by the UFC and not getting support, the fighter has successfully boosted his popularity.
Tsarukyan has been on a legendary media run, and his wrestling matches have certainly created a huge buzz. In a recent interview, the fighter mentioned how his vs. Ilia Topuria is the biggest title fight in the current roster.
“We are both on the—young, and in our prime. Everybody’s gonna talk about that fight. 50% gonna think I’m gonna win, 50% gonna think Ilia’s gonna win. It’s gonna be a massive fight,” said Arman Tsarukyan via The Ariel Helwani Show.

Arman Tsarukyan is widely known for his dominant wrestling abilities, an area in which Ilia Topuria has not been tested in UFC yet. The Armenian believes Topuria will emerge victorious at the UFC Freedom event by defeating Justin Gaethje and securing a showdown next. It remains to be seen whether the UFC will finally grant Tsarukyan the long-awaited opportunity he has consistently demanded.
