The rivalry between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier has flared up again, this time away from the Octagon. Jones’ latest comments came after both men completed filming a Russian MMA reality series, widely described as the Russian version of The Ultimate Fighter, where they worked as opposing coaches.
The project brought the former rivals together for an extended period, sharing the same environment while guiding separate teams. While some fans believed the experience could finally soften relations between the two, Jones’ remarks suggest the opposite happened once filming wrapped.
Old tensions resurface behind the scenes
Speaking after the show concluded, Jones delivered a scathing assessment of Cormier’s character. “What a d***head Cormier really is,” Jones said, before adding, “If you really get to know Daniel Cormier, he’s really not what people think.” The comments appeared aimed at challenging Cormier’s widely held reputation as one of the more personable figures in MMA.

"He was an asshole. I tried to make peace with him many times, he made it very clear that he wants to be enemies for the rest of his life.
He's a d*ckhead. Look at the way he treats his staff… pic.twitter.com/GCh8yb4RBv
Jones also claimed Cormier failed to connect with those around him during the filming process. “He didn’t really connect with any of the fighters here,” Jones stated, suggesting there was a clear disconnect behind the scenes despite the professional setup of the show.

The long-running feud was another point of emphasis. Jones insisted he had attempted to move past their rivalry, saying, “I tried to make peace with him many times.” According to Jones, those efforts were rejected, with Cormier allegedly making it clear that their animosity would continue indefinitely.
Jones then hinted that the rivalry’s staying power is tied to business rather than emotion. He claimed Cormier prefers to remain enemies because of how lucrative the feud remains, even years after their final fight.
Cormier has not publicly responded to the comments so far, but the episode underlines how deeply rooted this rivalry remains. Even after retirement and a shared coaching role on a reality show, the tension between Jones and Cormier shows no sign of fading.
