Sam-A Leads Two New Muay Thai Additions To ONE Fight Night 42

Two Muay Thai matchups with serious stakes have been added to ONE Fight Night 42: Eersel vs. Rungrawee on Prime Video, airing live from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok on Friday, April 10.

The more compelling of the two pits three-time ONE World Champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao against Moroccan striker Elmehdi “The Sniper” El Jamari in a strawweight encounter that is about far more than the result.

Sam-A, who holds a staggering career record of 377-50, is chasing another shot at the ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Title currently held by Prajanchai PK Saenchai. A dominant performance on the Prime Video stage would go a long way toward making that case.

The southpaw Evolve MMA representative won the inaugural ONE Flyweight Muay Thai, ONE Strawweight Muay Thai, and ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Titles across his decorated career, and arrives on a two-fight winning streak after defeating Jaosuayai Mor Krungthepthonburi last December.

El Jamari is no soft landing. The 27-2 Barcelona-based Moroccan made his ONE debut with a first-round knockout of Thongpoon PK Saenchai at ONE Fight Night 30, landing a crushing left hook that announced him immediately. His sole promotional loss came in a competitive three-round decision against the surging Aliff Sor Dechapan, and he arrives at ONE Fight Night 42 motivated to derail a legend’s championship ambitions.

The second addition features Suakim Pongsuphan PK against Russian technician Vladimir Kuzmin in bantamweight Muay Thai. Suakim is a force of nature in this division. He’s a three-division Lumpinee Stadium World Champion with a 155-60 career record, seven promotional wins, and a six-fight winning streak that culminated in a performance bonus knockout of Jake Peacock last November.

Kuzmin counters with a hybrid Muay Thai-kickboxing style built around stance switches and spinning strikes, and carries the credibility of having shared the ring with both Jonathan Haggerty and Muangthai PK Saenchai during his promotional career.
