Unbeaten Ubaid Hussain Reflects On His Rise Through ONE Championship
Ubaid “Bad” Hussain has adapted to life on combat sports’ biggest stage as though he had been fighting under those lights his whole career, and the unbeaten 20-year-old gets another chance to extend that story when he meets Isannuea Sor Sasiwat at The Inner Circle 28 this Friday, August 28, inside Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium.
An eighth straight promotional win would push the British-Pakistani standout closer to a life-changing US$100,000 contract, building on the pristine 16-0 record he has built out of Kiatphontip in Leeds.
That run began in December 2024, when Hussain traveled to Bangkok for his debut against Petsinchai Kingballroofphuket, a veteran with 35 career wins, and produced a first-round knockout.
“I was quite excited. When I’m walking out, you always see me smiling, but I was under pressure,” he recalled. “And to wrap up the debut with the finish…it was quite remarkable. I was jumping up and down, and I even got the bonus.”
A two-fight rivalry with Petnakian Sor Nakian followed, with Hussain winning their first meeting by decision before returning to finish the job more comfortably in the rematch.
He later opened his 2026 campaign with a clear-cut decision over Brazil Aekmuangnon in January. His toughest test yet came in April, when Panpadej Looksuan pushed him through three grueling rounds in his first main event.
Hussain admitted he felt he was behind on the scorecards before pulling away late to preserve his unbeaten record.
“I knew I was behind on the scorecards. He had some kinda strength in him,” Hussain said of that fight. “I tried to knock him out in the third round, but he just continuously got back up.”
The knockout he had been chasing since his debut finally arrived at ONE Friday Fights 160, where he dropped Sanpet Sor Salacheep three times in the opening round for a TKO finish.
Now, with Isannuea and The Inner Circle 28 on the horizon, Hussain remains focused on the bigger picture.
“I’m not rushing for the contract,” he said. “I’m happy to continue proving that I truly deserve it.”
