When the name Fury comes to mind, many immediately think of boxing. The Fury family has deep roots in the sport, with John Fury having been a bare-knuckle boxer, Tyson Fury achieving world champion status, and Tommy Fury expressing his ambition to follow in his brother’s footsteps and also become a world champion.
Currently, Tommy has participated in only 10 professional fights, the latest of which involved opponents from the YouTube community. He has stated that he has ample time to develop his boxing career, making it financially sensible to engage with figures like KSI and Jake Paul.
However, it appears Tommy is now shifting his focus from boxing to mixed martial arts (MMA) and hoping to get a shot in the UFC against Jake Paul.
Why is Tommy Fury Fighting MMA?
As with every fighter and promotion, they need to constantly make the headlines and give that shock factor to keep the fans engaged.
There has been recent talks of Tommy having a rematch with Jake Paul, but the fans are not too keen to see them have another boxing fight, so this is why Tommy may of offered Jake Paul to an MMA fight instead.
“I’m gonna smash his face in when I get good at MMA,” Tommy stated confidently.
Can Tommy Fury Fight MMA?
Tommy Fury believes that with up to two years of dedicated MMA training, he’ll be well-equipped to defeat Paul in the cage.
As Fury is a professional boxer, he has a great base and already has many attributes that is required of being an MMA fighter. He has the experience of competitive fighting, the footwork, the fitness, and the skills of punching and evading strikes.
However, in MMA there is much more to it that you can’t just rely on your punches. MMA fighters need to learn various martial arts to cover all aspects of the fight.
These include:
- Muay Thai – This will teach to not only throw punch and kicks but also elbows and Knees, and how to defend against them.
- Wrestling – This will teach throws, locks, and takedowns.
- Jiu-Jitsu – When the fight has reached the floor, Jiu-Jitsu will give you what you need to choke and submit your opponent.

Will Tommy Fury Fight Jake Paul In The UFC?
That’s hard to say. As we know with many fights we would like to see, the contract breaks down at the very end and the fight never materialises. However, if both fighters are keen, we’re sure Dana White would be happy to host this event.
