Kickboxing is a popular sport and in each different part of the globe has its own unique style. However, in Great Britian, kickboxing is generally not renown for having any particular famous characters in the sport.
Since the beginning of this century, with the popularity of the UFC, most fighters have focused on becoming an MMA fighter. Even kickboxers were transitioning over.
Well, that’s not the case for the Haggerty brothers, who have remained dedicated to their chosen discipline and are both signed to One Championship, the biggest kickboxing promotion in the world.
Eldest brother Jonathan became a champion in both kickboxing and Muay Thai divisions, holding 2 belts in different weight classes.
Jonathan’s younger brother Freddie is still relatively new to One and recently just got his third win in impressive style.
The Haggerty brothers are getting global recognition and are both being featured on many podcasts and interviews including Sky, which is fantastic for kickboxing as a sport.
Speaking exclusively to Sidekick, Freddie said:
“I was born into fighting. It was something my brother had been doing before I was of age to do it. My dad also used to fight too.”
In Freddies last bout we had offered him a £1000 prize bonus if he won via knockout from a Sidekick.
In the last round he gave it a great attempt, but unfortunately his opponent never went down.
Jonathan surprisingly said:
“He actually never throws that in a fight”
It’s easy to see that not only are the Haggerty brothers are truly dedicated to there sport, but they are becoming global superstars who like to put on a show for their fans.
