Once running the sport of MMA, Conor McGregor has had quite the fall off. Last seen inside the octagon back in 2021, the former double champion has been out of action after suffering a broken leg against Dustin Poirier.

While he was supposed to come back in 2024 and a date was announced, it was eventually canceled. As of now, he sits without a fight and fans are growing concerned. Despite speaking about a return to the octagon multiple times, he has failed to make it happen so far.

On top of that, McGregor has been involved in various controversies. From getting into a fight with Machine Gun Kelly to being charged for sexual assault, in this piece we will take a look at McGregor’s falling off.

Conor McGregor and his controversies over the past few years

In 2018, McGregor walked into a pub to order shots of his custom-made whiskey for everyone. An elderly male declined multiple offers of the drink which prompted McGregor to punch him in the face.

Later in the same year, McGregor appeared in Dublin District Court and pleaded guilty and was fined 1,000 Euros.

Back in 2021, UFC star Conor McGregor and musical artist Machine Gun Kelly got into an altercation at the MTV Video Music Awards that nearly turned physical. McGregor and Kelly were both on the red carpet at Barclays Center in Brooklyn when things turned heated.

The UFC star could be seen in videos lunging at Kelly, who was held back by security and his girlfriend, actress Megan Fox. Seconds later, McGregor was escorted away, but more video captured him throwing a cocktail in Kelly’s direction.

Last year in 2024, Conor McGregor was found liable by a civil jury in a case in which a woman said McGregor sexually assaulted her in a hotel room in December 2018.

The High Court in Dublin ordered him to pay the complainant 248,000 euros, or around $257,000. Responding to the decision, McGregor said in court that he had consensual sex with the woman. Moreover, he said that he intends to appeal the decision. Since it was a civil case, he is not currently facing any criminal charges related to the case.

Most recently, a video has surfaced in which Conor McGregor appears to spit in the face of a man who taunted him over his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov. The video, which circulated on social media on Monday (3 February), shows McGregor seemingly walking through a casino when a man shouts: “Let’s go, Khabib! Let’s go, Khabib!”

McGregor, surrounded by security guards, then turns around and approaches the man in question. The Irishman, 36, appears to spit in the man’s face, before saying: “I spit in your face, what do you do? Nothing. I spit in your face.”
