The build-up to the highly anticipated Conor Benn vs Chris Eubank Jr. rematch has once again stirred questions about drug testing and eligibility — particularly surrounding Benn, who failed a performance-enhancing drug (PED) test in 2022. As the scheduled November 15 clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium approaches, fans and critics alike are asking: is Conor Benn officially cleared to fight?
Conor Benn tested positive for the banned fertility drug clomifene in the lead-up to the originally planned first fight in October 2022. That bout was ultimately scrapped just days before the event after the findings surfaced. However, in April 2025, Benn and Eubank finally met in the ring after the British boxer was provisionally cleared to compete under a foreign licence. Eubank went on to win their first encounter by unanimous decision, but many claimed the absence of a full UK clearance left the result shrouded in controversy.

Since then, Benn’s legal team has continued working to overturn his suspension in the UK formally. In a key development, the World Boxing Council reinstated him into their global rankings and accepted his explanation that contamination may have caused his failed test. Even so, the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) pursued a separate case. Earlier this year, Benn won an appeal in the National Anti-Doping Panel, which ruled there was insufficient evidence to enforce an active suspension, effectively allowing him to fight in Britain again.
As a result, Benn is currently cleared to box in the UK — which is why the November 15th rematch with Chris Eubank Jr. is able to be staged domestically with full sanctioning. While some critics still dispute the verdict and scepticism remains, Benn will enter the rematch with no active PED suspension, a valid UK licence and all the necessary approvals from the BBBoC and anti-doping bodies.
