Jon Jones Fires Back Harshly at Alex Pereira After Bold Call-Out

Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira

In his last fight, Alex Pereira reclaimed the UFC light heavyweight championship by defeating Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 320. Following that, the Brazilian knockout artist openly expressed his desire to move up and challenge former heavyweight champion Jon Jones

Pereira believes their potential showdown at a White House event makes perfect sense because both fighters attract massive global attention. Recently, ‘Poatan’ visited the Brazilian tyre shop where he once worked, reminding fans about his humble beginnings and determined mindset.

Cameras revealed a tyre reading “Jones Next,” clearly showing Pereira’s confidence and ambition toward securing the biggest fight possible. It didn’t take much time for Jon Jones to respond to this bold call-out as he shared a video giving Pereira a reality check.

I beat a lot of legends from your country, my friend. I know you’d love to avenge the boys, but be careful what you wish for. CHAMA,” said Jon Jones via Instagram.

Jon Jones has fought five Brazilian fighters, including Lyoto Machida, Maurício “Shogun” Rua, Vitor Belfort, Andre Gusmao, and Thiago Santos during his UFC career. He submitted Machida with a standing guillotine, then survived Belfort’s armbar before finishing him with brutal ground strikes later.

Jones dominated Gusmao using elbows, clinch control, and wrestling, and against Santos, Jones relied on kicks and smart tactics, earning a narrow decision victory. While Pereira does have the ungodly knockout power, his takedown defence will definitely be tested against Jones.

UFC CEO Dana White isn’t convinced about Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira

Jon Jones retired from professional fighting last year, refusing to fight Tom Aspinall, attracting criticism from disappointed fans. However, nothing seemed to bother the legendary champion, while the proposed White House event suddenly captured his serious attention.

Fans are now increasingly excited about Jones potentially facing Alex Pereira, creating massive anticipation across the mixed martial arts community. Meanwhile, UFC CEO Dana White admitted the matchup looks attractive on paper, but questioned Jones’ commitment

That would be a fight, but can I count on Jon Jones? I can’t have Jon Jones doing something bad or pulling out of the White House fight,” said White via Complex. Nevertheless, observers remain curious whether this blockbuster confrontation finally materialise or quietly disappear among negotiations.
