Tom Aspinall, in his last UFC appearance, was left in confusion after his heavyweight bout with Ciryl Gane was ruled a no-contest following a brutal eye poke. The highly anticipated clash came to an abrupt halt when Aspinall suffered a painful injury, leaving fans inside the arena stunned and disappointed.
Since that unfortunate night, the British champion has undergone surgery, yet his recovery process has reportedly not improved. Throughout this difficult journey, Aspinall has also faced criticism from sections of fans and even UFC CEO Dana White. In a recent interview, Aspinall opened up about his frustration and shared honest thoughts regarding the harsh business realities surrounding MMA.
“I love MMA. I’ll never stop loving it, but I just hate the business. I think that fighters are just completely replaceable and the business will make you feel like that any chance it gets. Even if you get hit with an illegal move, which could affect the rest of your life, they don’t really give a sh*t. And no one else does either,” Tom Aspinall via Peter Carrol.
