Islam Makhachev will be returning to UFC in the main event of UFC 330 on August 15 in Pennsylvania. The pound-for-pound king will take on top challenger Ian Garry in a much-anticipated welterweight title clash.
The hype surrounding this fight is immense due to the long-standing rivalry between Garry and Makhachev, which is fueled by their nationalities. Yet for Makhachev, this bout represents another chance to cement his legacy within UFC history forever through another milestone.

Maintaining an undefeated winning streak in the UFC is incredibly difficult, and Makhachev currently shares 16 consecutive victories with Anderson Silva. Heading into UFC 330, Makhachev aims to surpass the record and stand alone with 17 straight UFC wins in history.
“I’m the best fighter in the world, but I want to be the best fighter to ever do this. I have to beat Ian Garry to beat Anderson Silva’s record, and it’s not going to be just 17, it’s going to be many more,” said Islam Makhachev via UFC.

Heading into UFC 330, Ian Garry remains confident that his wrestling and striking are good enough to pull off a championship upset. Meanwhile, Makhachev has stayed composed, insisting he will follow his usual game plan and expects to finish the Irish challenger within 3 rounds.

Islam Makhachev Fulfilling Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov’s Master Plan
Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov is the legendary coach and father of former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Following Khabib’s retirement, it was Islam Makhachev who continued the Dagestani dominance in the promotion.
Apart from Makhachev their are other fighters in that team, including Usman Nurmagomedov, who is the current PFL champion. Following his recent title defense, the fighter talked about the vision from Abdulmanap which motives them to success.
“When Abdulmanap was alive, he talked about how Khabib was going to become champion, and when he moved away, Islam was going to become champion to show that it was not a mistake. After Islam, Usman was going to become champion. This is the legacy,” Usman Nurmagomedov via presser.
