Conor McGregor has suggested that his next fight could be the final appearance of his professional MMA career, with the former UFC champion determined to generate record-breaking numbers for his potential farewell.
The Irishman made the revelation in a social media post, discussing his ability to attract attention and sell fights. McGregor believes he has consistently delivered massive numbers throughout his career, even when competing against other major sporting events.
“I’m going to actually try to sell the fight for my next one. My final fight. See what numbers I can generate. Keep outdoing my own records,” McGregor wrote.
The statement has added another layer of intrigue to the 37-year-old’s long-awaited return to competition, although no official announcement has confirmed his next opponent or established that the bout will be his last.
How many views did the canelo fight get? How many in attendance? Gate ?

Man I outdo ALL of these people in sales. Majorly. EVERY SINGLE ONE. With ease. Maybe even combined.
I don’t even be trying.
I was on the same time as the World Cup semi final and still done all them…
Conor McGregor Wants to Break His Own Records
McGregor also compared his previous achievements in promoting fights with the attention surrounding other major sporting events.
The former two-division UFC champion referenced the highly anticipated Canelo Alvarez fight, questioning its viewing figures and attendance before highlighting the numbers he believes he generated during his own appearances.
He also pointed out that he competed at the same time as a World Cup semi-final and still attracted significant attention.
McGregor’s ability to sell fights has been one of his biggest strengths throughout his career. His rivalry with Nate Diaz, his championship bouts against Eddie Alvarez and his blockbuster boxing match against Floyd Mayweather helped establish him as one of combat sports’ biggest commercial attractions.
However, the Irishman has not competed inside the UFC Octagon since suffering a broken leg during his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.
His planned comeback against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June 2024 was cancelled after McGregor suffered an injury.
Since then, speculation about his return has continued, with fans waiting for confirmation of his next appearance.

Will Conor McGregor Retire After His Next Fight?
McGregor’s latest comments suggest he is thinking about the commercial possibilities of a farewell fight, but they do not necessarily mean his retirement is imminent.
The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion has repeatedly expressed his desire to return to competition. However, his latest statement is the clearest indication in this post that he is considering his next appearance as a potential final fight.
If McGregor does decide to retire after his comeback, he will have the opportunity to close his career with one of the biggest events in MMA history.
For now, his next opponent, return date and retirement plans remain unconfirmed. Whether this really will be McGregor’s final fight remains to be seen.
