The undefeated Azerbaijani-Russian challenges reigning ONE Bantamweight MMA World Champion Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu at The Inner Circle 24. The bout streams live in Asia primetime this Friday, July 31, from Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium, exclusively for subscribers.
The 27-year-old carries a spotless record into the biggest fight of his career. Yet he insists the true motivation runs deeper than the 26 pounds of gold on the line.
“I have dreams,” he said. “My family does not have a house, and I would like to help my entire family and the people close to me. Not only my family, I would like to help people in general.”
That sense of purpose was shaped long before he ever stepped into a gym. It is rooted firmly in the values of his Muslim faith.
He explained: “As a child, I was inspired by great warriors and their stories. In my religion, Islam, I was also inspired by stories of sacred warriors who were willing to overcome hardships through self-sacrifice and nobility.”
Alyshov views his fighting ability as a gift rather than a personal achievement. He credits a higher power for the health and opportunity that brought him this far.
He punched his ticket to the title picture with back-to-back submission wins over Jeremy Pacatiw and Carlo Bumina-ang. Those finishes arrived faster than he ever expected.
“Honestly, I didn’t expect it,” Alyshov admitted. “And it is truly very gratifying and very valuable to me that ONE Championship gave me this opportunity, this chance to change my life and my family’s life. I have worked for this for so many years.”
A win this Friday would also make Alyshov the first Azerbaijani to claim ONE World gold in mixed martial arts. He would follow the trail blazed by former ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Chingiz Allazov.
Alyshov carries that weight with him into Bangkok, fully aware of what a victory could mean beyond his own household.
“For Azerbaijan, having a new MMA world champion in ONE Championship would be hugely significant,” he said. “Throughout my entire journey, so many fans and supporters have stood by me.”
