Their is one fighter in particular whose career is a testament to unrelenting passion for fighting, and that is no other than BKB fighter Jimmy Millar.

Sidekick: Hi Jimmy, it is great to speak with you.

How did you first get in to martial arts?

Jimmy: I always wanted to be a boxer. I begged my dad for years and years to take me to a boxing gym. It was actually a wrestler called Dave Best who took me with my dad.

The first time I went to a boxing gym was Freddie Mills boxing gym in Bournemouth. It was a very old pros boxing gym on Portland road. I was like 10 years old and they said I was too small and I should go to an amateur boxing gym on Stokewood Road. It was a smaller gym and the let me train there. I couldn’t wait to have my first boxing fight but as you had to be 12, I had to wait two years.

Sidekick: What made you want to fight?

Jimmy: It was definitely the Rocky and Van Damme movies that made we want to fight. Kickboxer and Blood Sport inspired me as a kid.

Sidekick: What is your favourite style of fighting?

Jimmy: My Favourite style of fighting has to be kind of like the Randy Couture style. The greko, stand up for mixed martial arts. Obviously, that’s what I’m involved in now with the BKFC and the BYB. It’s stand up and you can utilise the clinch, especially in the Trigon. I’m looking forward to implementing Randy Couture’s technique.

Sidekick: What is your most memorable part of your career?

Jimmy: My most memorable part of my career was winning the Last Man Standing MMA tournament which was an 8 man eliminator.

I got a belt, some prize money, and it was a moment I’ll never forget. Equally great moment was winning on BKFC. I’ve had a professional career spanning 3 decades.

Sidekick: Is there anything you would like to achieve?

Jimmy: I am about to achieve fighting in the trigon and I will be one of the few fighters in the world to have fought in that. I’ve fought many in the boxing ring, circular ring and in the forrest. That means I would of played the PlayStation control pad, because the forrest is the X.

Sidekick: Where did the name Beetroot come from?

Jimmy: The Beetroot came from in 2022, I started eating those things raw. The iron content was giving me hell of a buzz. I was like “This is it man”. There was already the Liverking and I thought I’m going to change my name to Beetroot King, because people need to know these beetroots are good and how powerful they are.

Sidekick: It’s been great to catch up with you Jimmy. We wish you all the best in your future career.
