In the last few years, Paddy Pimblett has emerged as a major name in the UFC lightweight division through consistent, undefeated performances. The fighter has a massive United Kingdom fan base because of his unapologetic, entertaining, outspoken personality.
Pimblett is a loudmouth Scouser whose accent and attitude often earn comparisons with legendary former champion Conor McGregor. Since his debut, Pimblett has followed McGregor’s path toward UFC stardom, using confidence and fearless ambition.
He wants to achieve a similar level of success in mixed martial arts by building popularity alongside winning important fights. In a recent interview, Dana White explained honestly why Pimblett and McGregor share noticeable similarities in their careers.
“He reminds me of the Conor McGregor story. He came in with this great personality and was always overlooked. Every time he fought, everybody believed he was going to lose, and Paddy has been that guy — even more so than Conor McGregor,” said Dana White via TMZ Sports.

Conor McGregor helped the UFC grow globally by delivering record pay-per-view numbers, fearless confidence, sharp trash talk, and unforgettable championship victories. Dana White admired McGregor because he attracted massive attention, backed his words and was ready to fight anybody.
Throughout his career, McGregor got special treatment from UFC, and now fans are accusing the promotion of doing the same with Paddy Pimblett. However, the Scouser has certainly proved himself by defeating several legends and becoming a pay-per-view star.
Much like McGregor, Pimblett wants to become the lightweight champion and then move up to win the welterweight belt. The fighter has also talked about the possibility of him fighting the ‘Notorious’ and making a huge fight purse.

Justin Gaethje dismisses Paddy Pimblett’s wrestling threat at UFC 324
This Saturday, Paddy Pimblett faces Justin Gaethje in a highly anticipated interim lightweight championship. The Liverpool native enters as a fan favourite, mainly because of his dangerous submissions and undefeated run.
However, Gaethje is unbothered, claiming his takedown defence is strong against aggressive grapplers and relentless pressure fighters. He added that he already faced elite wrestlers like Khabib Nurmagomedov, who were far superior compared to Pimblett.
“I do have confidence that I can grapple with Paddy and not get submitted by him if he does end up getting on top of me. If I drop him, I do need to get on top of him. I need to not be hesitant or fearful of grappling. Ultimately, he’s just a human and not Khabib Nurmagomedov,” said Justin Gaethje via UFC on TNT.
