Jake Paul has undeniably become one of the most recognizable figures in modern boxing, blending social media fame with professional fighting. The YouTuber turned boxer built his reputation by defeating several former UFC fighters, silencing critics and steadily increasing his mainstream appeal.
Over the years, Paul has consistently called out established combat sports stars, positioning himself against bigger names to elevate his credibility. However, in a surprising twist, legendary action star Jean-Claude Van Damme has now publicly expressed interest in fighting Jake Paul.
“Hi Jake, this is JCVD, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bloodsport. Let’s do a fight, a real fight, of course. I promise you, I will not kick below the belt, which means no low kick, so I don’t break your knee, I don’t break your ankle. That’s number one. Number two, you cover yourself, same for me, I guess. You’ve done a good fight with ‘AJ’, people make fun but you were very courageous,” said Jean-Claude Van Damme via Instagram.
Jean-Claude Van Damme rose to international fame during the late 80s and early 90s action movie era. He became widely recognized after starring in martial arts classics like Bloodsport and Kickboxer.
Known for his athleticism, flexibility, and iconic splits, he became one of Hollywood’s most recognizable martial arts heroes. His journey from Belgium to Hollywood inspired millions worldwide, proving dedication and perseverance can create legendary success stories.
Van Damme said the fight could take place in Macau, Las Vegas, Paris, the U.K., or Saudi Arabia. He pledged to donate 15 percent of his profits to charity and confirmed his readiness to fight during Christmas this year.
While there are no official announcements or replies from Jake Paul regarding this fight, it has certainly increased interest. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see whether the ‘Problem Child’ will be ready to fight a 65-year-old retired action star.
