On February 20, 2025, Jonathan Haggerty successfully defended his ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title at ONE 171, held at Lusail Sports Arena in Qatar. He earned a unanimous decision win over Wei Rui, a seasoned Chinese fighter who came into the bout with an impressive 70-3 record and a 21-fight win streak that stretched back to 2018.
This marked Haggerty’s first successful title defense since claiming the belt in November 2023 by defeating Fabricio Andrade. The victory also served as a strong comeback after his September 2024 Muay Thai title loss to Superlek Kiatmuu9, where he suffered a knockout just 49 seconds into the fight.

Next on the horizon, Haggerty is set to face longtime rival Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a much-anticipated trilogy match. Both men have won once in their previous two encounters, and the third clash is expected to headline ONE Championship’s return to the U.S., with the event planned for Denver later this year.
Beyond kickboxing, Haggerty has voiced his ambition to reclaim the Muay Thai title and has even hinted at a possible future in mixed martial arts, showing his continued drive to evolve as a fighter.
