His protege won the lightweight title and defended it four times. Makhachev even moved up to welterweight and captured that belt in November. Khabib’s legacy remains untarnished with his perfect record and dominant performances. Fighting Jake Paul would only damage that legacy regardless of the outcome.
Paul benefits enormously from talking about fighting legendary fighters like Nurmagoemedov publicly. The speculation generates headlines and keeps his name in combat sports conversations. But actually signing contracts and stepping in the cage are completely different matters. Paul has carefully selected opponents throughout his boxing career.
