Concerns surrounding Tyson Fury’s fitness ahead of his long-awaited showdown with Anthony Joshua have been dismissed after Frank Bruno suggested that the former heavyweight champion could be carrying an injury in training.
Fury and Joshua are finally scheduled to settle their long-running rivalry on December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. The blockbuster encounter has been nearly a decade in the making, with several previous attempts to arrange the fight collapsing before an official date was secured.
However, with just one month remaining before the biggest all-British heavyweight showdown in years, Bruno’s comments raised fresh questions about Fury’s physical condition.
Speaking on the latest episode of Fight Your Corner with Tony Bellew, the former heavyweight champion revealed that he had heard concerns about Fury’s training camp.
“I looked at him the other day and I think someone was talking to me in the gym that he’s got some injury,” Bruno said.
“Which may stop him from going into the fight with Anthony Joshua. And having that in your head isn’t nice.”
Bellew, however, was not convinced that there was anything serious behind the rumours. The former cruiserweight world champion suggested that Fury could simply be playing mind games ahead of the biggest fight of his career.
“He plays up to the camera, Frank,” Bellew responded.
“I think he wants to, you know, he’s going to be saying certain things.
“I do think Tyson Fury is the master of the mind games. Yeah, he’s very, very good at it. Very, very good at the mind games.”

Fury’s promoter shuts down injury suggestions
The speculation has since been firmly rejected by Fury’s promoter Frank Warren, who dismissed the suggestions as “nonsense” when speaking to The Sun.
talkSPORT also understands that Bruno’s claims are wide of the mark, providing further reassurance that the December 11 showdown remains on course.
Fury has been preparing for the encounter in Miami under trainer Sugar Hill Steward, bringing in high-level sparring partners as he looks to sharpen his preparations against Joshua, widely regarded as one of boxing’s most dangerous knockout artists.
Meanwhile, the Principality Stadium is already sold out, with approximately 80,000 fans expected to attend the blockbuster in Cardiff.
With so much anticipation surrounding the contest, any potential postponement would create a major logistical headache for organisers. Should either fighter be unable to compete, a new date in early 2027 would likely be considered.
For now, however, there is no confirmed indication that Fury is injured or that the fight is in danger of being postponed. Both heavyweights remain in training, with hopes that the long-awaited rivalry will finally be settled inside the ring.
