“I Was Robbed”- Charles Oliveira Calls Out Justin Gaethje for Potential UFC Title Rematch
Charles Oliveira last fought Max Holloway earlier this year at UFC 326, where he secured victory and captured the BMF belt. Following his knockout title loss to Ilia Topuria last year, the Brazilian legend has bounced back impressively with dominant performances.
Now 36 years old, Oliveira remains hungry for championship gold and wants another opportunity to reclaim the UFC lightweight title. The lightweight championship currently belongs to Justin Gaethje, who defeated Topuria earlier this year before securing his first UFC. championship.
With his sights firmly set on another title run, Oliveira recently discussed his potential next opponent during a revealing interview. The Brazilian superstar showed no hesitation whatsoever, openly calling out Gaethje and making his intentions for another title fight.
“With all due respect, I’m not looking backward. I’m looking forward. I want to fight for the title. That’s what I’m focused on. The UFC likes a story… I was robbed [in our first fight]. There’s a story there. And now he’s the champion. I have no problem with that. The rematch doesn’t need to be in Brazil. Just like I went to his home turf before, it can be in his backyard, it can be in Las Vegas, on the street corner, in Japan, anywhere in the world,” said Charles Oliveira via Olhar da Luta.
Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaethje previously fought each other back at UFC 274 where the Brazilian submitted Gaethje. However, due to exceeding weight limits Oliveira was stripped of the lightweight title which he never was able to get back.
Oliveira lost to Makhachev at UFC 280 and is eager to get that title back soon. It will be interesting to see whether the veteran has what it requires to challenge for the title again.

Arman Tsarukyan accuses Charles Oliveira of ducking
Arman Tsarukyan and Charles Oliveira previously fought on UFC 300’s main card, with Tsarukyan winning their closely contested lightweight bout. Given their positions among the division’s elite contenders, reports recently suggested they were targeting a rematch next at UFC 331.
However, Oliveira withdrew following the death of longtime teammate Allan Nascimento, although the matchup was never officially announced by UFC. Tsarukyan recently discussed the situation, saying UFC told him Oliveira needed time away after Nascimento’s death, while questioning the decision.
“Charles friend died and he cannot train. But I don’t understand, in 3-4 days he’s doing trainings and back in camp. Probably they already set up a fight with Diego Lopes. He was just finding an excuse. To lose somebody is so hard, but you could beat me and dedicate the victory to your friend. Fight me or Diego Lopes, for sure he would pick Diego Lopes,” said Arman Tsarukyan via The Ariel Helwani Show.
Tsarukyan is currently scheduled to fight Mauricio Ruffy in the co-main event of UFC 331 is the fan favourite to win the clash. The Armenian is eager to put on a dominant performance and get his title shot against Justin Gaethje.
