Daniel Knight opens up on sponsoring Jonathan Haggerty

Daniel Knight, the founder of Sidekick Boxing has seen a lot of potential in Jonathan Haggerty. The 27-year-old still has a number of years left in his prime and Knight feels he’s the right person to carry the name of his brand.

Speaking about sponsoring the British fighter, Daniel Knight spoke extensively and revealed that he has been in contact with the fighter for quite some time. He said:

I’ve always wanted to sponsor Haggerty and we had discussed it a few years back, but the time wasn’t right.”

Furthermore, Daniel Knight spoke about how his brand Sidekick Boxing has had a lot of attention through Andrew Tate over the past few years. While mentioning that the attention is appreciated, he doesn’t want people to forget that Sidekick is a martial arts brand. He said:

Over the last couple of years, we have had so much media attention through Andrew Tate, but I don’t want that getting shadowed that we are a martial arts brand. It’s important we keep supporting the best in the sport”

Is Jonathan Haggerty the biggest name to be sponsored by Sidekick since Andrew Tate?

Yes, it is fair to suggest that Jonathan Haggerty is the biggest name to be sponsored by Sidekick since Andrew Tate. Tate a globally known social media star was a kickboxer before he got all the fame.

Interestingly, Tate was pretty good at what he did and has won multiple world titles as well. It was back in 2012 when Tate had started to make a name for himself in the sport and Daniel Knight decided to sponsor him.

Knight himself has been quite vocal about how sponsoring Andrew Tate was the best decision he made for the brand. Not only did it bring eyeballs during that time, but the brand was even talked about when Tate was arrested back in 2022.

After over a decade since the brand sponsored Andrew Tate, it looks like they have found their next gem. As mentioned earlier, the 27-year-old is already one of the best in the world and seems to have a bright future ahead of him.

While Sidekick has sponsored a number of fighters since sponsoring Andrew Tate, Jonathan Haggerty is undoubtedly their biggest name yet. Interestingly, Former Hollyoaks actor and Katie Prices ex Husband Alex Reid has also been sponsored by the brand. He was sponsored by Sidekick in his Channel 5 BAMMA fight and Bellator fight.

Conclusion

After years of trying to sign him, the brand finally sponsored Haggerty ahead of his September 6 clash against Superlek Kiatmuu. Despite losing his last bout, Jonathan Haggerty is still considered to be one of the biggest names in kickboxing and Muay Thai. The fighter will most certainly look to get back to winning ways and further cement his legacy.

As far as the brand, Sidekick is concerned, they are continuing to make great equipment for fighters and strengthening their presence in the industry by sponsoring fighters across combat sports.

That said, it remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future for both Jonathan Haggerty and Sidekick Boxing.
