As rumors grow around Andrew Tate’s highly anticipated Misfits Boxing 23 appearance, speculation has begun over whether the four-time kickboxing world champion could reunite with his former gear sponsor, Sidekick Boxing. According to reports, one of Tate’s close friends from within his circle believes he should have continued promoting Sidekick, the company that supported him through many of his competitive years.
The friendship between Tate and Sidekick’s founder, Daniel Knight, dates back more than a decade. Sidekick Boxing was launched in 2010 with a focus on high-quality kickboxing and martial arts equipment, and Tate became one of the brand’s earliest ambassadors. During his active fighting days, Tate regularly wore Sidekick gloves, shorts, and protective gear both in training and competition. The collaboration helped boost Sidekick’s credibility among kickboxers, while giving Tate an early platform as his fighting profile began to rise internationally.
Their partnership became well-known in UK kickboxing circles, with Tate often praising Sidekick’s gear and featuring in promotional material for the brand. However, as Tate’s fame grew beyond combat sports into the digital and entertainment world, their collaboration began to fade. Reports suggest that as Tate’s public image became more controversial, Sidekick shifted its focus to other fighters and events to maintain a neutral sporting reputation.

With Tate now eyeing a return to the boxing spotlight under the Misfits promotion, one of his long-time allies reportedly believes this is the perfect moment to return to his roots. The friend claimed that Tate owes much of his early exposure to the backing he received from brands like Sidekick, and that staying loyal to those who supported him during his athletic prime would have shown respect to his origins in kickboxing.
Whether Tate decides to rejoin forces with Sidekick remains to be seen. The company has since expanded, working with new stars such as ONE Championship’s Jonathan Haggerty, and may be cautious about reigniting a public partnership with such a polarizing figure. Still, given their shared history and the marketing power both bring to combat sports, a reunion ahead of Misfits 23 would certainly draw major attention — and a wave of nostalgia for fans who remember Tate’s early fighting days in Sidekick gloves.
