Conor McGregor Fires Back at Max Holloway, Claims He’s the Greatest Featherweight Since Bruce Lee

Conor McGregor has never lacked confidence, and the former two-division UFC champion has once again made headlines with another bold statement. While speaking to ESPN MMA ahead of his long-awaited rematch against Max Holloway, McGregor declared himself the greatest featherweight fighter since martial arts icon Bruce Lee.

The comment came as McGregor reflected on his legendary featherweight run, where he captured the UFC featherweight title with a stunning 13-second knockout of José Aldo in 2015 before moving up in weight to achieve further success.

However, it appears Max Holloway’s previous comments about the Irishman did not sit well with “The Notorious.”

“Its almost disrespectful. I’m not sure who [Max] thinks he’s talking to here,” McGregor said while responding to Holloway’s remarks.

McGregor went on to defend his legacy at 145 pounds, insisting that his accomplishments remain unmatched. Despite spending the majority of the last decade competing at lightweight and welterweight, he believes his impact on the featherweight division continues to stand above everyone else’s.

The rivalry between McGregor and Holloway dates back to August 2013, when the Irishman defeated a 21-year-old Holloway by unanimous decision in Boston. Since then, Holloway has evolved into one of the greatest featherweights in UFC history, becoming champion and setting multiple records for wins and significant strikes in the division.

Now, with the pair preparing to meet once again, the verbal exchanges have intensified. McGregor is standing firmly behind his belief that his prime featherweight run remains one of the greatest the sport has ever seen, while Holloway has built a résumé that many fans believe rivals or even surpasses it.

With both men holding legendary status in mixed martial arts, their rematch carries significant historical weight. Whether McGregor can back up his latest claim inside the Octagon remains to be seen, but his confidence has never wavered as fight night approaches.
