ONE fighter Liam Nolan insists he is not retired – Despite Wikipedia’s claims

In early 2025, Liam Nolan announced his retirement from professional fighting, a decision that surprised many in the combat sports community. However, this retirement was short-lived. Nolan later revealed that his initial decision was made hastily and without thorough consideration. After reflecting and discussing with ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong, he decided to return to the sport.

Despite his return, some sources, including Wikipedia, still list him as retired. This discrepancy has led to confusion among fans and followers of the sport. Nolan has clarified that he is actively competing and has no plans to retire at this time.

Nolan made his return to the ring at ONE Fight Night 31, held on May 2, 2025, at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. Originally scheduled to rematch Nauzet Trujillo, the opponent who handed him his last defeat, Nolan faced a last-minute change when Trujillo withdrew due to injury. He instead fought newcomer Abolfazl Alipourandi, demonstrating his readiness and commitment to the sport.

In interviews, Nolan expressed that his passion for fighting never waned, even during his brief retirement. He emphasized that the decision to return was driven by his love for the sport and the realization that he still has much to achieve in his career.
