Michael Bisping Urges Khamzat Chimaev to Defend His Title Before Facing Alex Pereira

Khamzat Chimaev

A few months ago at UFC 319, Khamzat Chimaev defeated Dricus Du Plessis to capture the UFC middleweight championship. The Russian star dominated DDP across five exhausting rounds, earning a unanimous decision while showcasing elite wrestling and composure.

Since that victory, Chimaev has repeatedly called out light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira for a blockbuster White House event. According to the ‘Borz’, his grappling will be enough to neutralize Pereira’s terrifying knockout power in a potential fight.

However, many fans believe the undefeated contender still has significant responsibilities remaining within the fiercely competitive middleweight division. UFC veteran Michael Bisping publicly reminded Chimaev about those obligations while addressing his ambitious future plans. “Gotta defend the belt first before moving up,” wrote Michael Bisping via Sidekick’s social media post.

Michael Bisping was the first UFC champion from the United Kingdom, dominating the middleweight division in his prime. He famously fought with one eye after a severe injury, still capturing the championship through courage and resilience.

It seems like, despite his retirement, Bisping has definitely been busy with his role as a UFC commentator. The veteran doesn’t seem to shy away from saying his opinions out loud on public platforms.

Khamzat Chimaev’s most dangerous middleweight title contender

The UFC middleweight division is stacked with dangerous contenders, making every one of his first title defenses a tough challenge for Khamzat Chimaev.  Among those threats, Nassourdine Imavov stands out as the most prominent name potentially destined to face Chimaev in a blockbuster matchup.

The French striker recently defeated Caio Borralho, extending his impressive undefeated run while proving composure against elite opposition. Both Imavov and Khamzat Chimaev have exchanged words online, fueling excitement and boosting anticipation for a potential championship rivalry.

Fans believe their contrasting styles, intensity, and confidence could create one of the division’s most compelling title fights in recent history. While Chimaev is desperate to get the Alex Pereira flight, it seems like the ‘Borz’ needs to take care of his own division first.
