As you could imagine, with so many kickboxing fights over decades of the sport, it is very hard to say which fight is the best of all time. Kickboxing is a spectators sport so it would certainly need to be entertaining to make it a great fight.
It also is difficult to choose the best kickboxing fight ever due to their is many different kickboxing styles and they all have something different to offer.
So, What makes a great kickboxing fight?
Match up
It is very important it is a good or an even match up. Putting an experienced pro fighter with someone who has just started on the pro circuit will just make a one sided fight. While it will make the experienced fighter look fantastic as he will be in his comfort zone, a one sided fight may not only be the best to watch, but their could also be a risk of serious injury to the less experienced fighter.
A even fight makes it exciting to watch as it could go either way and also it can make it hard to award each round too.
Skill
One of the most important factors to a good fight is the skill. Both fighters need to very technical, keeping their moves neat and tidy. No one likes to see sloppy hands, poor footwork, or just a slug fest.
Style
Many people say styles make fights but a similar style can be just as good. A gripping toe to toe fight that keeps you on the edge of your seat gives you a fight to remember.
Power
Every fight fan loves a K.O. So, to put two talented knockout artists in the ring together is definitely going to be an explosive fight.
Best Muay Thai Fight
Before we talk about what we think is the best kickboxing fight ever, there is a Muay Thai fight that has recently shocked the world. Liam Harrison beat Muangthai by knocking him down 3 times in a round, right after he was also dropped twice himself in the exact same round.
Our Favourite Kickboxing Fight Ever
If a kickboxing fight ticks all these boxes you know your in for a good fight. We have so many to choose from but our all time favourite is Mike Zambidis vs Chahid Oulad back in 2010.
This is a K-1 kickboxing fight for the K-1 World Max 2010 final 16 which was fought over 3 rounds. Each round was none stop action, displaying fantastic skill and with a few knockdowns, it was nail-biting.
After the three rounds the judges scored it a draw so they had to fight a final round to determine the winner.
Give it a watch to see who wins!
Final thoughts
With so many great fights it is quite difficult to decide what is the best kickboxing fight ever, but for us, the Zambidis vs Chahid seems to just clinch it.
It is this modern style of K1 kickboxing that has provided the fans with so many fast, explosive bouts that leave you on the edge of your seat.
